I woke up this morning in my living room, unshaved and smelling of
cheap booze and cigarettes. It was hectic week, a big week in the
world of gamblers, online sportsbooks, and the moguls up in Las
Vegas. There were Latino derbies, exhibition games that decided
home field advantage, award shows, rivalry baseball games, British
golf, and the end of the 2005 World Series of Poker. It was a
wild orgy of betting and baseball, a tornado of anarchy and organized
mayhem. Yet the mlb baseball season waits for no one, and
the 162 baseball game marathon will not stop this week simply because I
nearly killed myself the week before.
Baseball matchups
The early portion of the week will feature nothing but horse dung,
mockeries of baseball matchups that will produce heavy favorites and
medium sized underdogs. The Red Sox will spank the Devil Rays,
the Cardinals will annihilate the Brew Crew, and the White Sox will
bleach the Tigers. In fact, the only baseball game worth
watching, never mind betting on, will be the rejuvenated Athletics and
the Angels.
Baseball games
Later in the week, the baseball games will get more interesting, with
the White Sox and Red Sox fighting for Sox supremacy, as well as
representing the colors of God and Satan. Quite a responsibility,
if I do say so myself. The Steinbrenners, in hot pursuit of the
Red Sox, will be facing a powerhouse of their own, the mighty Angels of
San Luis Obispo, or wherever they hail from this week. For you
minor league baseball fans, the Cubs and Cards are in play, as well as
the Nats and Buttros, er Astros.
Baseball betting lines
However, the savvy bettor knows that the baseball matchup is not the
thing, it is the baseball line that is the thing. In the
sportsbook world, a meaningless baseball game in July is just as
valuable as the Super Bowl. Finding a money baseball bet,
regardless of what baseball game it is, can ultimately decide winners
and losers, separate richer from poorer.
Betting baseball
So keep that in mind, gents and gentiles, when looking at the decrepit
schedule this week. It is not the size of the baseball game, but
the size of the deal that counts. The magnitude of the baseball
game should only come into effect when dealing with chokers and those
who thrive on the pressure. These factors should be measured just
like any other statistic, like ERA and batting average. However,
such concerns need not be concerned with, if that makes sense, at least
for this week. Find the deal, bet the baseball, and cash your
winnings.
