Online Sportsbook Betting for baseball season
We are approaching the dog days of summer, and baseball, also known as
the MLB, is the sportsbook wager of choice. So far it has been an
unpredictable baseball season, with the Yankees playing like the Devil
Rays, the White Sox playing like the Yankees, and the Nationals playing
like, well, this being their first baseball season, I suppose they are
playing like the Nationals.
This year it is apparent when mlb online betting, that we forget the
carnival act that is the Steinbrenners, and focus more on the reliable
winners. If you are looking for the steal in your baseball
betting, the baseball team flying under the radar, it is too late for
such tactics. The top hats in Las Vegas have also been watching,
and have adjusted the baseball betting lines accordingly.
We will get to the all-star baseball betting orgy, but we must first
take a look at baseball futures. The White Sox, arguably the best
baseball team in the regular season to date, are coming in at 7 to
1. A “fool’s gold” type sports odds if I ever saw one.
Their bastardized pitching will not make it past the big boys in the
MLB postseason. Freddy Garcia will become Freddy Garcia, John
Garland will return to being John Garland, and well, you get the
idea. The Twins are also a joke at 15 to 1. Baseball teams
like the Cardinals and Sox are getting too much respect. In this
regard, it is probably best to stay away from the Cards and the
American League altogether, and look to the Atlanta Braves, who are
getting 17 to 1 to win the series and 17 to 2 to win the pennant with
most online sportsbooks. It would be foolish to take the Buffalo
Bills of baseball in the show, especially since they will be at least 3
to 1 underdogs to whomever they play. No, the smart money lies in
the Braves to win the pennant. You can then decide if you want to
roll the bankroll on the show.
Now, on to the spectacle that is the All-Star break. We will be
in Detroit this year, covering the land of Henry Ford, Kid Rock, and
Axel Foley. First on the agenda will be the MLB home run derby, a
contest that the mad scientist Bud Selig has once again tampered with,
creating a contest of nations at war rather than baseball teams.
As a result, strange contestants have entered the fray, guys like Mark
Teixeira, Bobby Abreu, and Jason Bay. The derby is a different
animal than the regular baseball season, and the first timers will boil
themselves in their own nerve bath. The sportsbook, meanwhile
will skew the odds heavily toward traditional power hitters like Andruw
Jones and Albert Pujols. Ivan Rodriguez is even quoted on record
as saying the ball carries to left field in Comerica, which will hamper
lefties David Ortiz and Hee Sop Choi. This is in lieu of Ichiro,
who had the potential to harness the freak factor in a baseball circus,
a guy who’s batting practice power has been hyped up like a Mike Tyson
fight. Unfortunately, he bowed out, leaving everybody in America
disinterested in the whole thing. Sure, the third world countries
will cheer and jeer, but will anyone raise the red, white, and blue, if
Teixeira wins? Of course not. However, since the thing will
be a bore, perhaps you will be more inclined to be a baseball
handicapper. After all, with hometown batters, unknown
batters, and a freak singles hitter playing this year, many will tell
you to run, to avoid the derby like the plague. Which is exactly why
you should betting it. Take the long shots, take them all if you have
to, the sports odds should be juicy with Las Vegas in a conundrum.
On to the baseball game itself. Most sportsbooks and online
gambling sites have the American League slightly favored, because they
are fundamentally the stronger league, and this baseball game will be
played with perverted rules, rules where a designated hitter bats in
lieu of a pitcher. Ridiculous. There is also a rule about
the winner getting home field in the World Series. Even more
ridiculous.
As with most all-star baseball games, everything will be decided by the
bench players and the late inning relievers. You can probably
expect the Rocket to be strong, but down the stretch when Livan
Hernandez takes the mound, the runs should come pouring in. I am
also not sold on Dontrelle Willis, who has a well-documented history of
fading after the All-Star. In the gambling world, a trend isn’t
broken until it is broken. On the American league side, we have a
guy named Duchscherer and Bartolo Colon, the more reliable version of
Livan Hernandez.
The X-factor in your MLB online betting is Kenny Rogers. Will he
go ape shit and start mowing down batters? We hope so. But
our violent fantasies aside, Mr. Rogers is a dangerous variable,
something that could either be a powerfully motivated individual or a
debilitating monkey wrench. Rogers seems a little unglued, and
that makes the AL bet a little less attractive. Yet the NL hasn’t
won the All-Star baseball game since 1996. This year seems no
different.
Now there is the matter of how to bet it with the sportsbook. The
run line is very, very attractive, at a whopping +150. The
smarter baseball bet is the money line, at a -135 clip. Although
we can’t argue with going balls out, in a tie baseball game
ninth-inning situation, chances are the home team won’t generate two
runs. Keep a level head, and you will keep your balls, regardless
of how big they are.
